Where to shelter when the jugo sets in
When the jugo turns the open water into a washing machine, the waters around Korčula and the Lastovo archipelago keep working. Every stop below is recorded protected from the southeast.
This guide is written for a south-easterly.
A jugo does not build like a bura — it comes in over a day or two, backing round from the south, and it can pin a boat down for the same length of time it took to arrive. The bays below all read protected from the southeast, so the fetch that wrecks an anchor night elsewhere never reaches them.
Reading the list
Every entry is protected from SE by the recorded exposure data, not by reputation. Where the same bay is also recorded protected from the south, that is noted too — a jugo rarely stays pinned exactly on one bearing all night.
- Check the wind exposure card on each destination page before committing an anchor for the night.
- A protected SE reading says nothing about swell running in from a different quarter — read the whole rose, not one number.
